Coaching Success at Passmores

If you want one year of prosperity, grow seeds. If you want ten years of prosperity, grow trees.
If you want one hundred years of prosperity, grow people.       Chinese Proverb

If you view prosperity in it's broadest form - then this is what coaching is about: growing people through personal and professional development.

A coaching approach is underpinned by the principle that everyone has resources they can tap into to make personal and professional improvements. As I often say to the students that I work with,  "you are the only person that is with yourself 24/7 and are therefore your own expert in what is the best way forward for you".

Coaching empowers an individual to take ownership of their own choices and growth and therefore their successes too. It also works with 'failure' as a learning tool, in much the same way as 'Growth Mindset' does, by using a Solution-Focused approach and coaching style feedback as stepping stones to success.

The next time you go to give advice, a suggestion, or even 'your' solution or answer to someone - try turning it into an open coaching question that probes their thinking and solves their own problem and see just how empowering that is for them - and also liberating for you to not solve everyone else's problems!

Check out the initial training we give to staff and the self-reflection forms for coaching below.
