EXCELLENT PROGRESS Learning quotes through memory walks: Miss Faulkes' Year 11 English class have been using a memory technique (inspired by Mr King) to support their recall of key quotes from their English texts. Students use different parts of the Heart space to represent significant parts of the quote and trigger recall later as they visualise looking around the Heart space. For a more extensive 'walk-through' of this technique, please see Miss Faulkes or Mr King.
CLEAR DIRECTION Using SOLO taxonomy to find a clear path through a difficult topic : Miss Silva's Year 10 Biology class were using SOLO steps to deepen their understanding of monoclonal antibodies and its uses. This enabled students to work at their own pace and gave them a clear idea of what they had learnt and how much progress they had made.
GROWTH THROUGH FEEDBACK Exploring the journey through learning through peer feedback: Mr McGee's Year 7 REAL Project class used a road journey map to track their learning (clear success criteria for each stage). This journey was checked along the way through peer feedback stops where students were asked to critique each other's work and then improve what they had done.
ENJOY & ENGAGE Maths Treasure Hunt - class challenge for 'No Pens' Day: Mrs Jackson and Mrs Cross' Maths classes faced off on Wednesday in a challenging maths treasure hunt where they had to work out maths problems found through QR codes and then find the card with the correct answer on it. The questions and answers were hidden around the school.
